TAKING private trumpet lessons AT THE RIDGEWOOD CONSERVATORY
Although the smallest member of the brass family, the trumpet boasts the highest register of all the brass instruments. Producing the loudest notes due its high pitch, the trumpet can often be heard over most of the other instruments in the orchestra. Trumpets range in size and pitch from the highest notes of the piccolo trumpet to the lowest pitches of the bass trumpet, making it an extremely popular instrument in a variety of musical genres from classical and marching bands to jazz, funk, rock and pop.
Our beginning trumpet players generally start on a B-flat trumpet, and learn proper playing posture, diaphragmatic breathing techniques, and how the breath works together with the lips to produce sound. In addition, they learn basic scales and how to read music, as they master playing simple songs. As our student-trumpeters continue to grow in skill, they become familiar with a wide range of musical genres and literature.
Our trumpet instructors provide a sound foundation in the fundamentals of playing the trumpet in one-on-one lessons tailored to the student’s individual level and learning style. Highly trained performers with outstanding professional and educational credits, our experienced instructors help our trumpet students develop their musicianship.
