TAKING private french horn lessons AT THE RIDGEWOOD CONSERVATORY

Of all the brass instruments, The French horn has the largest tonal range, producing a soft and rich timbre. Because of its dark tone and rich, full sound, the French horn is typically a common fixture in classical music settings. In addition to its important role in the orchestra, the horn is often used in chamber groups and brass bands, and occasionally in jazz or rock music.

Beginner French horn students learn correct diaphragmatic breathing techniques, proper playing posture, correct positioning, all while to play simple scales and basic melodies. As they progress, beginner hornists learn to read musical notation and master basic music theory.

Our French horn instructors are professional virtuosi performers and educators who custom-tailor their one-on-one lessons to meet the learning style of students of all ages and levels. Most importantly, they help students stay motivated to become successful musicians!
