Musical theater star Gay Willis first won critical acclaim when she performed in the world tour of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, and her moving performances of the Pie Jesu (Requiem) received rave reviews from critics worldwide. Gay then starred as Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera opposite Colm Wilkinson, and completed over 1000 performances as Magnolia in Hal Prince’s production of Showboat on Broadway, in Chicago, and on tour starring with such legends as Cloris Leachman, Anita Gillette, Elaine Stritch, Dorothy Loudon, Marilyn McCoo, Dick Van Patten, Pat Harrington, John McMartin, and Dean Jones, for which she received the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actress in a Touring Musical. Her other performances include Rapunzel in Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods starring jazz legend Cleo Laine (Kennedy Center), Mabel in Pirates of Penzance (Carbonell Award winner for Best Actress), Bloomer Girl (City Center), Funny Girl (with Whoopi Goldberg), and Nothing Like a Dame with Chita Rivera, and Maria in West Side Story. Gay’s concert career continues to take her throughout the United States and Canada. She has appeared with Sirius XM’s Seth Rudetsky’s Live on Broadway, Concert for America with Barry Manilow, Tina Fey, Keala Settle and others and again with Seth in Give My Regards To Broadway at the Westbury Music Fair.

As a dedicated educator, Gay Willis has taught voice, acting and audition prep to students of all ages and skill levels. She has directed middle school and summer acting camp reviews and musical productions, including Lion King, Shrek, Suessical and Dear Edwina, and has conducted both online and on-site masterclasses for various high schools and universities across the United States. In addition, she has taught acting interpretation work sessions/classes at The Singing Actor’s Studio, where many of her students have been accepted at NYU, Ithaca, BOCO, University of Michigan MT, New England Conservatory and other prestigious programs.

We are thrilled to announce that Gay Willis is playing a dual role here at The Ridgewood Conservatory – lending her expertise to our Musical Theater program, and coaching our many aspiring vocalists and actors through private study.
