The ‘All New’ Rock Shop at TRC!

New this Fall! The ‘all new’ ROCK SHOP at TRC brings you an outrageous blend of outstanding pro rockers and cool new ways to rock out. Our Rock Shop faculty includes five super talents:

  • The amazing rock/blues singer NIKKI ARMSTRONG has been compared to Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin. Deejay of her own “Blues in the Grooves” radio show on WFDU 89.1FM, Nikki was inducted into the NY Blues Hall of Fame in 2012. She has performed and/or recorded with acid jazz guitarist Melvin Sparks and the father of the electric guitar – the great Les Paul, and has opened for such famous acts as Joan Osborne, Dave Mason, Dickey Betts, and Parliament Funkadelic.
  • Phenomenal rock/jazz guitarist DAVE GELLIS has been lead guitar for Blood, Sweat & Tears for 30 years. In between tours, he has performed and/or recorded on guitar with such internationally known major rock and jazz artists as Meat Loaf, Stanley Clarke, Arturo Sandoval, Eddie Brigati (Rascals), and countless others.
  • Multi-talented bass player LEE MARVIN is well known for his incredible skill on both upright and electric basses. He has performed with a long list of famous artists including Melvin Sparks, Pinetop Perkins and Martha Reeves, and has been seen or heard on MTV, VH1, Saturday Night Live, NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, etc.
  • Master drummer DAVE MOORE has toured with George Benson, Ronny Jordan, Martha Reeves, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson (The Band, and Bob Dylan), Hubert Sumlin and many others. Most recently, Dave has been on the road with Grammy winner and Rock and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bernie Worrell, (keyboardist for Parliament-Funkadelic and Talking Heads).
  • Rock/blues/funk keyboardist JOHN FREUND has over 25 years of on-stage gigging and recording experience. Most notably, he has played with Joey Molland (Badfinger), Mike Jackson and the Soul Providers (aka DapKings), Rod Morganstein, Andy Timmons, and Deep Banana Blackout.

With their combination of outstanding musical expertise and songwriting, arranging, studio recording, engineering and production experience, our Rock Shop faculty offers the complete package: private instrument and vocal instruction, band coaching, and performance/career guidance for students of all ages and levels.
